St. Isaac's Cathedral was being built from 1818 to 1858. The architect Auguste de Montferrand worked on the creation of the project. The construction was carried out during the rign of Emperor Nicholas I. Its height is 101.5 meters, and the internal area is more than 4,000 square meters. The exterior of the cathedral is decorated with 112 granite columns.

The spit of Vasilyevsky Island
The Palace embankment can be called one of the most beautiful and famous embankments of St. Petersburg. It is here that the world-famous sights of the Northern capital are located.

Interesting fact:
At the beginning of the 18th century, the embankment was called Verkhnaya and passed at a considerable distance from the swampy banks of the Neva River.
The bridge over the Neva River in St. Petersburg connects the central part of the city and Vasilyevsky Island. It is an object of cultural heritage of Russia of regional significance.

Spit of Vasilyevsky Island is a cape on the eastern tip of Vasilyevsky Island in St. Petersburg, washed by the Bolshaya Neva and Malaya Neva; one of the most famous architectural ensembles of the city.

Interesting fact:
The image of the Spit of Vasilievsky Island is imprinted on a fifty-ruble bill. On one side there is a statue of the Neva at the foot of the Rostral Column, on the other side there is a view of the Spit from the river.
